Single Skilled Engineer

  • Annual gross salary: €42,000 – €52,000
  • Equivalent weekly salary: approximately €808 – €1,000 gross per week
    (includes 8% holiday allowance and 28.5% shift allowance)

Multi Skilled Engineer

  • Salary: To be discussed based on skills and experience
  • Indicative range: comparable to €808 – €1,000+ gross per week

C&D Foods, part of ABP Food Group, is one of Europe’s leading private-label pet food manufacturers. The IJmuiden site (near Amsterdam and Haarlem) produces canned cat and dog food with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons. The facility is modern and highly automated with advanced mechanical and electrical equipment.


Job Responsibilities

We’re looking for Shift Technicians—both Single-Skilled and Multi-Skilled—to join the M&E team in IJmuiden. You’ll keep production running safely and efficiently by:

  • Responding quickly to breakdowns to minimize downtime
  • Performing planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on automated equipment (conveyors, extruders, palletisers, vacuum packers, form sealers, wrapping machines)
  • Fault-finding and repairing mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Working with PLC systems and supporting installation and project work
  • Collaborating within a skilled engineering team on a rotating shift pattern

  • Maintain machinery and plant to ensure high factory reliability

  • Provide hands-on technical support across the engineering department

  • Optimise machine performance through correct settings and routine maintenance

  • Drive continuous improvement and preventive maintenance initiatives

  • Uphold engineering, safety, and quality standards across the plant

Job Requirements

  • Single-Skilled Engineer

    HND or NVQ Level 3 in a Mechanical discipline

    Experience in production or food-processing environments preferred

  • Multi-Skilled Engineer

    HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering

    Proven experience in a dual-skilled (mechanical and electrical) environment

  • Strong technical ability with hands-on maintenance experience

  • Solid problem-solving skills and proactive attitude

  • Background in manufacturing or food processing is an advantage

  • Effective teamwork, communication, and multitasking

  • EU residency or a valid Dutch work permit (as required under Dutch law)
