Field Maintenance Mechanic Glueing / Field Modification Operator

Base location: Ridderkerk, South Holland, Netherlands
Work location: Ridderkerk + project sites across the Netherlands (sometimes internationally)
Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: €3,500–€4,000 gross per month (depending on experience)

About the company

You’ll join a global leader in developing, building and maintaining trains, trams and metros. In the Netherlands, around 500 colleagues work across multiple locations including Rotterdam, Ridderkerk, Utrecht and Amsterdam. The work includes maintenance, overhaul and modernisation, as well as innovative projects like the introduction of the Intercity New Generation (ICNG).

As a Field Maintenance & Modification Technician – Adhesive Technology (Mechanical), you work on project-based assignments in workshops and on customer sites. Your focus will be a major tram refurbishment project where adhesive bonding and sealing is a core part of the work.

You’ll sometimes work short assignments, and other times you’ll be on one large project for several months. International deployment is possible depending on project needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform bonding and sealing according to the European Adhesive Bonder (EAB) standard (certificate required)

  • Carry out mechanical work such as torqueing, crimping, pop riveting, and assembly

  • Disassemble vehicle parts, process them, and assemble them again

  • Work closely with internal teams and customer teams on-site

  • Perform maintenance and repair work on rail vehicles (trams/trains/metros)

Requirements

  • MBO Level 3 education in Mechatronics, Aircraft Engineering, Automotive, or similar

  • EAB certificate (European Adhesive Bonder) – required

  • Experience with mechanical operations like torqueing and crimping (certification provided internally if needed)

  • Independent, responsible and safety/quality-minded

  • Good command of Dutch (spoken and written)

  • Driving licence B

  • Flexible to occasionally work evenings/nights and travel when required

Nice to have (plus)

  • Experience with Huck rivets

  • Experience with paint application / paint systems
