Field Maintenance & Modification Technician – Mechanical / Painter
Base location: Ridderkerk, South Holland, Netherlands
Work location: Ridderkerk + project sites across the Netherlands (sometimes internationally)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: €3,300–€3,800 gross per month (depending on experience) + allowances

Projects range from short repairs to refurbishment programs lasting months, with occasional international deployment.
As a Field Maintenance & Modification Technician – Mechanical / Painter, you work on project-based assignments in workshops and on-site. Your main focus will be a major tram refurbishment project, where vehicles are fully disassembled, processed, and rebuilt.
Key responsibilities

Apply paint and lacquer systems on rail vehicles and components

Perform pre-treatment work such as grinding, sanding, and ice blasting

Support mechanical activities including torqueing, crimping, pop riveting, and assembly (torqueing/crimping certification arranged internally)

Possibly support bonding and sealing work (EAB certificate is a plus)

Work closely with internal teams and/or customer teams on-site

Perform maintenance and repair work on various rail vehicles (trams/trains/metros)
Requirements

MBO Level 2 painting qualification

Proven experience in paint application and finishing (required)

Basic mechanical skills and strong attention to detail

Independent, responsible, and quality-focused

Good command of Dutch (spoken and written)

Driving licence B

Flexible to occasionally work evenings/nights and travel when required
Nice to have (plus)

EAB certificate (European Adhesive Bonder)

Experience with Huck rivets
