Electrical Technician – Field Maintenance & Modification

Location: Ridderkerk / Rotterdam (base) + various project sites (sometimes international)
Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: €3,500–€4,000 gross per month (depending on experience) + strong secondary benefits

About the company

You’ll join a worldwide rail-sector company that works on trains, trams and metros and delivers maintenance, modernization and breakdown services. As a Field Maintenance & Modification Technician, you’ll work on a wide range of projects—from short damage-repair jobs to long-term overhauls—independently or as part of a team, directly on customer or internal project sites.

Your role

As an Electrical Technician – Field Maintenance & Modification, you are responsible for electrical maintenance and modification work on rail vehicles. You work project-based with a strong focus on quality, safety, and accuracy.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform electrical maintenance and modification work on rail vehicles (trains/trams/metros)

  • Install, test and repair electrical systems and components

  • Work with techniques such as torqueing, crimping, cable routing, wiring, and panel building

  • Collaborate with internal teams and/or customer teams on-site

  • Deliver work according to project requirements, safety rules, and quality standards

Requirements

  • MBO Level 3 diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar

  • Several years of experience as an electrical fitter/technician

  • Able to work independently, responsible, and quality-oriented

  • Good command of Dutch

  • Driving licence B

Nice to have (plus)

  • Torqueing and crimping experience (certification can be provided)

  • Bonding and sealing according to EAB standards

  • Experience with Huck rivets

  • Experience applying paint systems

Are you specialised mainly in sealing or painting? You’re still encouraged to apply — we’re looking for professionals with passion and strong craftmanship, even if you focus on one specific part.

Work locations

You’ll work at different locations depending on the project:

  • Rotterdam: maintenance and overhaul of locomotives and wagons

  • Ridderkerk: interior work on rail vehicles

  • Amsterdam: introduction and rollout work for the new ICNG Intercity
